Mushroom, also known as "Toad Stool" is a fleshy fruiting body of the fungus.Its called the meat of the vegetable world and for vegans.The white mushroom is the most widely cultivated variety.
FYI: Per 100 g of mushroom provides : 4.1g - carbohydrates,0.1g - fat, 2.5g - protein, 18mg -calcium, 120 mg - phosporous, 448 mg - pottasium, 1.1 mg - zinc.
I'm here sharing below my simple recipe of mushroom curry along with the information above.
Ingredients:
Preparation:
Slice the mushrooms into small pieces and wash them in water and drain the excess water.
In case of mushroom,its better to cut it and then wash so that even the small unwanted particles that attach to it will be easily washed away.Most of the mushrooms have black sand attached to them.
Add oil to a pan and temper mustard seeds,urad dhal,curry leaves.
Then add sliced mushroom,garam masala,chilly powder,turmeric,salt and sprinkle little water and close the lid.If you have vadam masala replace it inplace of garam masala which is more tastier.
Allow it to cook in slow flame for about 10 to 15 minutes.
The mushroom will absorb the spices and masala and will give a good flavour and taste.
Remember,this mushroom curry is not of gravy type.Its a thin masala that goes with brown rice,white rice or cracked wheat.
Those who wish it to be like gravy for chapathi,can add 2 tspns of ground coconut or 2 tspns of wheat flour dissolved in warm water to be more healthier,without adding coconut.
Tips:
