Tamarind Cracked Wheat Upma

Ingredients:
  • Cracked Wheat -  1 cup
  • Tamarind juice – ½ tspn
  • Green Chilly – 2
  • Ginger – small piece
  • Coconut grated – ¼ cup
  • Hing powder – ¼ tspn
  • Mustard – ½ tspn 
  • Urad dhal – ½ tspn
  • Chana dhal – ½ tspn
  • Curry Leaves
  • Salt – as needed
  • Oil – 2 tspn





Preparation:

Slightly shallow fry the cracked wheat with little oil in a pan

Allow it to cool and grind in mixie,just a pulse.Not Much.

Then splatter mustard seeds in the kadai.

Then sauté the  dhalls,hing,ginger,chilly and curry leaves.

Then add 3 cups of water,tamarind juice and salt and let it boil.

Set the flame to sim and add cracked wheat little by little and keep stirring.

Then add the grated coconut and switch off the flame.

Serve it after 10 minutes.

This goes well with Tomato chutney.
